Sketchbooks.org is a no-nonsense, artist-run website made to focus on the beauty and diversity of the 'sketchbook'.
The sketchbook is an integral part of any artist’s apparatus. The purpose of sketchbooks.org is to celebrate that most important, emblematic, essential article. This website gives artists a platform from which to display their work – by using it they can explore their own creative process while building links with others.

I LOVE sketchbooks. I try to draw everyday. I really enjoy seeing other people’s sketchbooks also. That’s why I set this site up – because I found it practically impossible to keep tabs on artists’ websites and webpages peppered here and there on the internet. I felt there should be one place where I could find introductory galleries and biographies, and should my interest be piqued, the artists’ sketchbooks!
Sketchbooks.org is presently being developed to pull together into one place – at once a directory and a resource. Each artist (member) gets a simple gallery and bio page to give a visitor a taste of who they are and what they do.
Artists are encouraged to have other FULL websites for themselves and to place the link within their Sketchbooks page! That way, a visitor gets an impression of what they do by looking at their Sketchbooks gallery.
All artwork on this site is strictly ©opyrighted property of the artists themselves. If you'd like to use any of the images found on this site, you must contact the artist for permission first.
Sketchbooks.org is an open structure community website. If any one would like to contribute to the growth of this site, send an
email with your ideas!
I started my not for profit work in 2002 with the grass roots arts organization called the Forest in Edinburgh, Scotland. I still serve as a committee member doing - among other things - their website. Stuff that I've learned by developing their website, I incorporate into my own projects… like this one.
Enjoy.
And participate!
