Image & Sketch Usage Policy

Once an image is selected for use in an article, it becomes part of that page’s curated content and is no longer accessible to the member outside of its published context. To maintain clarity, consistency, and proper crediting, all images are managed by the Editor and may be cropped, adjusted, or removed as needed to best support the article’s layout and message. Linking to external images that may change or disappear would disrupt the visual integrity of our posts—so all contributions are treated as permanent visual references within the site.

All images uploaded to Sketchbooks.org—whether submitted directly to an article or added to a Member Gallery—are considered part of our community pages. This means your work may be featured in editorial content, blog posts, or creative guides even if you didn’t submit it for that specific purpose. Our editors carefully select visuals that enhance the site’s educational and inspirational value, and we credit contributors wherever possible.

When your sketch is featured in an article, it links directly back to your Member Gallery—giving visitors a chance to explore more of your work in context. For example, if your pencil drawing appears on a page about graphite techniques, readers can click through to see more of your pencil-based art. It’s a way to spotlight your strengths and connect your style to topics people are actively exploring.

Being part of Sketchbooks means your art helps enrich the entire site—not just your personal gallery. We believe in integrating member work into a larger visual dialogue, showcasing it in articles, destination features, and creative prompts that inspire others.

How to Submit an Image to an Article

When you’re logged in, a Submissions Box appears near the TOP on each Article page. Click to expand it and access the full Article Submission Form.
To contribute:
✍️ Paste a Deeplink to one of your images
✍️ Hit Submit
Our team reviews submissions on a rolling basis, and you’ll be notified if your work is selected to appear in the article.

🔗 What’s a Deeplink?

A Deeplink is a special URL that connects directly to a specific Gallery Image on Sketchbooks.org—without exposing the original image file (like image.jpg). It lets viewers access your artwork through our lightbox display while keeping your source file secure.

This is a deeplink: https://sketchbooks.org/gallery/coldraintoes/book-1/merman

To grab a Deeplink:

  • Click a thumbnail to Open your image in the lightbox view
  • Look for the INFO BOX in the upper-right corner
  • Click the Share ➜ Copy Link button

Alternatively, the URL you see in your browser when viewing an image in the gallery is already a Deeplink—no extra clicks required.

Submitting images is always encouraged to be in the form of a Deeplink to your Gallery rather than uploads (although we allow both).

🌟 Featured Artist Reviews & Interviews

Stand out with a dedicated Featured Artist page. We’ll either review your work or interview you and share your story to inspire others and recognize your brilliant work.

Members with a Featured Artist Page have a STAR icon and a direct link to the Featured Article displayed at the top of their Profile.
